Holiday Fashion

December is the month where you’re most compelled to go out—simply because it’s the most festive month of the year! We’re guessing that with so many parties and events packed into your social calendar, dressing up would take twice as much time than “regular” months. Don’t fret, though, because we’ve found the most time-efficient-but-still-stylishly-effective ways to dress up for the holidays!
Check your schedule so you can plan your outfits in advance. Yes, to dress up well, you also need to utilize your time properly. That way, if you’ve got back-to-back cocktail bashes to attend, you won’t have to panic that you’ve already used your trusty LBD and have nothing else to wear!
Browse fashion magazines during your spare time to get inspiration for outfits. You can do this during your lunch or merienda break at work, and while trawling the fashion pages, you can mentally start “shopping” in your closet for possible ensembles. And that way, if you feel that there’s something kulang that you have to buy, you can already map out your mall expedition.
Have fail-proof shoes. This means having a pair that can go with just about any outfit. It can be black pumps that can translate from casual to chic, strappy heels for laid-back glam or seriously formal, or wedges to give you precious inches and flatter your legs as you get decked out in jeans or a dress. Be sure to invest in one pair and you won’t regret shelling out your hard-earned pesos for it!
Tote a neutral-colored shawl or pashmina when attending an evening event to protect you from the chill of December and even air-conditioned function rooms. This can also double as your cover-up if you feel a little self-conscious about your arms without having to worry about color-coordinating your outfit.
When in doubt about accessories, go for the simple ones like pearl or faux diamond studs, a chunky jewel-toned bracelet, or an elegant watch. Don’t pile on the accessories if you’re not comfortable. Remember, less is more (if not best), and to project confidence, you have to be comfortable with what you wear.
Always do a last-minute check-up. Before heading out the door, take one long, good look at yourself to inspect for any makeup mistakes or straighten out any glitches in your outfit. Don’t forget to do this too before you make your “public” appearance at any party (for example, as soon as you’ve stepped out of the car)—so you’re guaranteed to look smashing once you make your entrance.
