Beauty Basics... In your Bag

It can be so humiliating to get caught looking losyang in public. How to remedy this, ASAP? Be a beauty girl scout and always tote these handy kikay tools in your bag or purse in case of a beauty emergency.
Wet wipes and/or tissues. Whoever invented wet wipes are geniuses. These are so versatile—they can blot out excess oil on your face, wipe off an embarrassing smudge of lipstick or makeup or a crumb on the side of your mouth, or lessen the starkness of a stain on your shirt.
Pressed powder. You can use this to cover up that super nakakainis zit, even out your complexion, and conceal other blemishes on your skin. Most pressed powders come in compacts, so you can also use the mirror to discreetly check out your appearance when you’re bunched up in a crowd and can’t head to the toilet.
Lipgloss or lipstick. Want to look made up in an instant? Swipe on lipgloss or lipstick to achieve that made-up effect. Pick a shade that complements your skin tone and can go from day to night. Not only will you look more put together, but you’ll feel your confidence soaring too!
Blush. Trust us on this—putting on blush can solicit you that “mukhang blooming ka!” reaction from people. After being cooped up in the office the whole day, you skin tends to get sallow. Bring back that glow with blush—you can choose from a variety of forms, from powder to cream to liquid, depending on your skin type (powder is for oily skin, cream and liquid is for dry skin, while normal skin can use any of the three).
Tip: Doublecheck that you’ve put on a fair and even amount—you want to look naturally rosy, not clownishly reddish. Ask a friend for a second opinion, too.
Hand sanitizer. This will come in handy when you’re in a place where there’s no running water in the bathroom and you need to “wash” your hands. This can also substitute for alcohol (the one that you use to clean, not drink) if and when needed.
Floss picks. These are toothpicks that come with dental floss. This winning 2-in-1 combo can bail you out of awkward situations when you find yourself with a piece of “something” stuck between your teeth. You can find floss picks sold and wrapped individually so just stick one or two in your bag and off you go.
