Many women are sporting a poorly shaped or badly groomed set of eyebrows. The right shape of brows can make or break your look. Even if you have a pretty face, bad eyebrows can pull down your beauty factor. Professional eyebrow threading or shaping costs only P150-P500 in salons, but it is possible to do it by yourself. To find your right shape, follow these steps courtesy of cosmetics.suite101.com:
1. Prepare a moustache trimmer or small scissors and an eyebrow brush or comb. Comb your eyebrows upwards and trim any excess that goes beyond the natural hairline. Comb your eyebrows down, and do the same.
2. Take any pencil and place it vertically against your nose. It should run from the side of the nose, mid-mouth, and by the tear duct of the eye. This is where your eyebrow should start; any hair that is visible beyond the pencil should be tweezed.
3. Place the pencil diagonally where it should hit the middle of the mouth, nostril, and outside the iris of the eye. This is where your arch is. Tweeze a gradual line from the arch to the start of your eyebrow.
4. To determine where the end of your eyebrow should be, place the pencil diagonally across to the opposite corners of your mouth, nostril, and outside corner of your eye. Any hair that goes past that should be tweezed.
5. Place your pencil horizontally from the start of the eyebrow to the end of the eyebrow. If the pencil falls on a perfect straight line, then you’ve shaped your eyebrows correctly.
Just because a certain hair part looks great on your favorite celebrity, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will look good on you. You face shape should determine your hair part in order to maximize the features of your face. Tip: The best time to fix your hair part is when you’re in the shower, as wet hair will help set the part in place.
1. Long or oval faces = do a side part. Whether you prefer the left or right side, part your hair in line with the arch in your eyebrow.
2. Round or square faces = you look great with a middle part, as this makes your features appear longer and slimmer.
3. Prominent foreheads or chins = downplay these features with a part that’s off-center.
. If you’ve been wearing the same lipstick or gloss for years, it’s time for a change! Change your signature lip color at least once every season to highlight your aura. You may also be one of the many women sporting the wrong choice in lip color. You lip hues should depend on your skin tone.
1. Olive skin = You can wear almost all hues of brown. Brown reds, strong reds, deep rose, bronze, mahogany, toffee, dark apricot are your best picks. Avoid candy pinks and lip colors with white or silver in them as they will make your face look pale.
2. Light/fair skin = Beige, pink, apricot and orange shades look perfect on you. If you’re a little pale, go for silver undertones to add shimmer to your face or dark berry shades to add a natural flush. Stay away from dark brown shades.
3. Medium skin = You skin will work well with medium pinks, rose shades, peachy nudes, light mocha, medium apricots, caramel and even reddish burgundy lip colors.
4. Dark skin = Your skintone is perfect for golden beige, caramel, walnut, deep brownish red, deep berry, deep fuchsia, plum, wine, and crimson red. Yellow undertones will also highlight your face.
